Day 10- Mt. Olympus

We were hiking Mt. olympus today! First thing in the morning, we packed our overnight bag for our hiking trip. We brought sleeping bags and warm clothes. It gets very cold in the mountains. Then we went to the bakery to get breakfast and lunch. And off we were for Mt. Olympus. We started the path once we got to Prionia. You drive 18 km to a restaurant/parking lot and continue the hike from there. Another option is starting all the way from Litohoro for 5 hours and then 2 and half hours until the refuge. We chose to just do the 2 and half hours to the refuge. It did not take us that quick to do it. First we got bean soup at the restaurant. There were other people in there and we asked them if they were hiking today. Nobody in the room was because the weather was very bad. It was raining and very foggy and they said you couldn't see the path. We didn't care what they said so we did it. We bundled up for the hike, although I did warm up pretty quickly. The hike was very hard. It was very steep. After about 2 hours mom thought we went past the refuge where we were spending the night. So we walked back a quarter a mile to where we saw another sign. And started on that path, but it looked wrong. Thankfully we saw two people that had just come from the refuge and pointed us in the right direction. We finally got to the refuge after 4 hours of hiking!! We got so high that there was snow and it was really cold! We checked in for the night. They gave us the rules(dinner over at 9, drinks over at 9:30, lights out at 10, and we had to be packed by 8 the next morning) and took us to the dorm rooms. After we went in front of the fire to keep warm. We met people from the US, germany, and russia that were staying there. There was not heat in the rooms, so we bundled up in our sleeping bags and the blankets that they provided.
